Acquisition strategies: Attract qualified traffic for your online store

To better understand your store’s performance, it’s important to conduct a statistical analysis.

This data is essential to support every observation: it helps identify friction points, high-potential pages, and the most effective acquisition channels.

At every stage, you should monitor your statistics using tools like Google Analytics. This allows you to understand visitor behavior and your conversion rate. These insights are valuable for adjusting your strategy and continuously improving your visibility.

To generate qualified traffic to your store, you have two options: if you have an advertising budget, paid campaigns (Google Shopping, Meta Ads, etc.) can quickly drive qualified traffic. If not, your store’s growth will rely heavily on an effective SEO strategy and strong brand development.

Generating traffic without a budget

When starting without a marketing budget, growing traffic can take some time.

To catch up with competitors, invest in a consistent SEO and branding strategy. Avoid one-time optimizations: regular updates encourage Google to crawl your site more often, which supports your rankings.

Optimize your store’s SEO

  • Keywords: To get started with SEO, identify what your audience is searching for and use long-tail keywords that are easier to rank for. Analyze your homepage keywords and look at your competitors to refine your strategy.

  • Store structure and content: A well-structured store helps its SEO. Use a clear menu, consistent internal linking, and smooth navigation. Provide unique, optimized, and regularly updated content, with clean URLs and high-quality media. Also check for 404 errors every month.

  • Homepage SEO: Your homepage is strategic. Make sure it includes:

    • Clear and optimized meta title and meta description.

    • Proper heading structure (H1, H2, H3) with no inconsistencies.

  • SEO-optimized images: In your image manager, make sure you add relevant ALT tags.

  • Category and product page optimization: Categories and product pages should be carefully optimized. Highlight visuals, customer reviews, reassurance elements, and cross-sell opportunities. Choose keywords aligned with search intent, and use the “SEO” tab in each product page to strengthen your SEO.

💡 Useful Tips
To further boost your SEO, creating a blog or Topic Cluster is an excellent strategy.

Build your brand

In addition to SEO, branding plays a key role in making your store known and earning customer trust.

  • Social media: Be active on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest. Share your brand story through a blog, show behind-the-scenes content, and use branded goodies to build recognition.

  • Referral: Encourage referrals. The more people talk about your store, the more visible it becomes. Collect and showcase customer reviews, join online or physical events, create a newsletter strategy, and pay attention to packaging to make a strong first impression upon delivery.

  • Local branding: If your business has a local focus, consider local branding. Local media (radio, press) and Google My Business are powerful tools for boosting local visibility.

Generating traffic with a budget

Having a marketing budget allows you to speed up traffic acquisition while targeting potential customers more effectively. You’ll have access to several powerful levers, such as online advertising, strategic partnerships, and building an ambassador network.

Online advertising (SEA)

Paid ads are a fast and effective way to bring in qualified traffic. It’s essential to choose platforms based on your target audience’s age, interests, and shopping habits.

  • Shopping ads: Display your products in Google’s “Shopping” tab. To use it, set up a Google Merchant Center account and link it to your Google Ads account, especially to launch Performance Max campaigns.

  • Google Ads: Bidding on keywords allows your store to appear in search results. By analyzing your campaign performance, you can identify top-performing keywords to later integrate into your SEO strategy.

  • Meta & Instagram Ads: Promote your posts or stories on Facebook and Instagram to boost visibility.

  • TikTok & Snapchat Ads: Great for reaching a younger audience with immersive content.

  • Pinterest Ads: Use sponsored pins in search feeds to inspire and convert.

  • Marketplaces: List your products on platforms like Amazon, Cdiscount, etc. Use feed managers to centralize and automate your product catalog distribution.

Ambassador network

Partnering with ambassadors or influencers can greatly increase your visibility with an engaged audience. There are profiles for all budgets, and micro- or nano-influencers are often very cost-effective.

Partnerships and collaborations

Collaborations with other brands or complementary businesses are another great way to reach new customers. You can co-host giveaways, run joint promotions, or organize shared events (online or in person).

Identify partners whose audiences are similar to yours and create valuable offers or content together. These actions often require little to no budget and focus on mutual visibility and support.

With the right approach, even a modest budget can significantly accelerate your growth, if it’s well targeted and well structured.
