Generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity…) use web crawlers to analyze publicly available content on the web, exactly like traditional search engines. Your store is therefore accessible to these tools by default, with no action required on your part.
Robots.txt and AI bot access
If you are using the robots.txt file automatically generated by our solution, no blocking rules are applied: all crawlers are allowed, including AI bots. This means that the public content of your store is indexable by generative AI tools, just like by Google or Bing. These robots crawl your pages in the same way as traditional search engines, and no additional configuration is required on your end.
☝️ Good to know
Some tools now offer visibility scores in generative AI. There is currently no official measurement standard, and methodologies vary significantly from one tool to another. These indicators should therefore be interpreted with caution, as they do not necessarily reflect the reality of your presence in LLM responses.
Llms.txt file
The llms.txt file is a recommendation circulating in discussions around GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). The idea is to provide AI with a synthetic file to better understand a site, but in practice, its usefulness remains very limited.
On one hand, no serious study has demonstrated any concrete impact of this file on visibility in LLMs (Large Language Models), i.e. artificial intelligence models capable of understanding and generating text from vast amounts of data. Generative AI models primarily rely on the quality, structure, and accessibility of the content already available on your website, rather than on an additional declarative file. Google also explicitly states that this type of file is not necessary to appear in generative search.
On the other hand, the architecture of our solution does not allow the creation of custom files at the root of the site, so adding a llms.txt is not available. This has no impact on your visibility: Our stores are already technically optimized on the points that truly matter to AI engines.
