WiziShop offers you the possibility to set several statuses for your products. There are 3 different statuses:
There is a fourth status which is "Draft" and which simply corresponds to a product page that is being written and/or incomplete.
As soon as you complete 100% of your product page, it will automatically change to a "displayed" status.
Defining each status
"Display" status/Visible on the site
A product in "Display" status will be visible on your store, even if it has a stock of zero. You can even specify the wording that will be displayed when the product in question is out of stock. You can of course hide products that are no longer in stock (see tutorial “How do the rules of Stock work?”)
An unavailable product will be indexed, found only by direct URL and impossible to order. It will always be present on your store but can not be ordered or found via the search engine of your store. As a result, this product will not lose its natural SEO until it is put back in stock and changed to the "Display" status.
"Not display" status/No longer appears on the site
A not display product will disappear completely from your store and will no longer be indexed. The page will have to be redirected, otherwise it will result in an error 404. You can redirect it to the category page associated with the product for example.
Which status is preferable between "Unavailable" and "Not display"?
It will all depend on the context of your product in question. Explanation:
- You have a flagship product that sells well and that you regularly restock. In this case, it is better to change it to “unavailable” status. Its SEO will therefore be kept until its is restocked and changed to “display” status.
- On the other hand, you have a product of which you sell little or that you no longer intend to sell on your store in the short term. In this case the change to “not display” is recommended. You can then redirect this URL to another page (page of the associated category, for example).
